Every month, artists from around the world gather online with BBI’s ImagoDei Arts Ministry to discuss their craft, faith, and to encourage one another. Whether your medium is the visual arts, music, performance, sculpting, or of the pen, We’d love to have you join us.

This month, we will hear from special guest Dr. Brian S Chan. Brian is a professor in Media Arts and Worship at Dallas Theological Seminary, teaching on a theology of beauty, creativity, film, and imagination. He was a pastor in Hollywood for 18 years, reaching and ministering to creatives in the arts and entertainment industry. He was a professor at Biola University for 17 years and a workshop speaker in Hollywood. As an artist, Chan is an award-winning fine artist with the Burbank Art Association and a board member of LELA International Arts. As a writer, he authored The Purple Curtain: Living Out Beauty in Faith and Culture from a Biblical Perspective and Not Easily Broken (novel). As a martial artist, he is a certified kung fu sifu who trained actors and stuntpersons and was a fight choreographer. Academically, Chan did his research on the beauty of God for his Th.M. at Dallas Theological Seminary, and philosophy in film for his D.Min. at Biola University.

Topic: Being Beauty-Makers

Dr. Chan says, “In this session, we will discover the power of being beautiful to make beauty. Understanding human beauty from the imago Dei requires discovering the beauty of God in its rich layers. We will discuss and learn the meaning of being beautiful as God’s image-bearers and the empowerment of being beauty-makers in the world.”
