Annual Team Arrives from Holland to Bless Madona
By Charles Kelley
MADONA, Latvia – Another team from Holland arrived in Madona earlier today. They have come for a week of partnership outreach with the Madona Baptist Church. Many in the city will be blessed.
Organized by Diks Bortnikovs, Dan and Katie Roth, the Dutchies come to Madona every year to partner with their sister church. Together they will visit more than 200 homes of people living below the poverty line. As they do good works, they will share good news.
Dan Roth says, “We will make 250 food baskets so we will be visiting about 230 homes. Big families will get two food baskets.”
They will knock on the doors in teams of two, identify themselves as coming from the church with special gifts of food, clothing, candy or other specialty things like wheelchairs and canes. Packages will be personally given to often overwhelmed people.
Before the teams leave they will invite the folks to
Sunday services and the weekly Celebrate Recovery meetings. They offer to pray together with the families. If history repeats itself, more than 95% welcome the prayers.
What a wonderful expression of the Great Commission to communicate the Gospel message and the Great Commandment to ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’
